Vertiver essential oil has a very earthy and grounding aroma. According to Valerie Worwood, in the book "The Fragrant Heaven", vetiver can reveal the deep secrets of the soul hidden in the heart. Most powerfully, this also involves the realization that we are not alone in this universe. For those whose minds are swirling with uncertainty, with minds with unanswerable questions, vertiver helps us to remain calm and grounded, without disturbing the creative forces, bringing about the answers that we much seek in that calmness.
Vertiver's calming properties are said to dispel anger, hysteria and irritability.
One potential area that vetiver essential oil could potentially address is ADHD. A 2001 study by Dr. Terry Friedmann found that the oil's aroma improved the children's ADHD by 100% as compared with lavender essential oil which improved the condition by 53%.
